Love's First Kiss
Anticipation
Jittered nerves
A smile
A glance
Excitement
Nervous Energy
Lips colliding
Sweet embrace
Soaring heart
Delirious mind
Endless smile
Electrified
Jittered nerves
A smile
A glance
Excitement
Nervous Energy
Lips colliding
Sweet embrace
Soaring heart
Delirious mind
Endless smile
Electrified

I like how this poem progresses through its stanzas building on each. It starts out with the speaker feeling weak, then reliefed, and then almost divine. It makes me feel like I'm in that moment right before you say hello to that girl thats mind bogglingly beautiful, even through your dating and you see her everyday you still feel a little jumpy in your stomach, a little peppy in your speech. When she says "hey handsome" wipes away all of those feelings and replaces them with sensations of belonging.
It's like when you first hold some ones hand, and your hands dont fit together so you keep switching ways of holding until you finally find that one position that sends chills up your arm because you're not only holding hands anymore, you're broadcasting your feelings for a person to that person and to yourself. Not only are you holding hands but your connecting on the basic level of human interaction: touch.
Then after you hold hands for a while, and writing crazy limerics and sonnets to that hair that blew across your face as you met walking down the road in some little town that you cant remember the name of in that white notebook with the puppy dog on it that everyone makes fun of you for, you finally get the corage to go to that special persons house after work one day (traveling as far as you have to to get there) and when she opens the door you give her a soft light kiss on the cheek and say "How was your day?"
Thats what this poem makes me think of.
